LONDON, Jan. 9 -- The government of the United Kingdom issued the following news:
Theregulator is examining information about the charity's sale ofitsCity & Guildsawards operation (C&G)to a private company in October 2025.
The Commission was previouslymadeawareof theproposedsaleby thecharity, andhadsoughtand receivedassurances aboutthetrustees' decision making, but the sale did notrequire theCommission'sregulatoryconsent.
The statutory inquiry willnowexaminenew informationthat has been reported in relation to the sale.
The inquiry will examine:

information providedby the charityto the Commissionregarding the sale of the awarding, assessment, and training businesses of thecharity in October 2025 toPeopleCert(under the company known as City & Guilds Vocational Education and Apprenticeships)following concerns raised in public reporting relating to the sale and bonuses awarded to its executives
*
the trustees' decision-makingregardingthesale andentering intoa'coexistence agreement'with thenewcompany, including the information thattheywere provided with and considered when making thisdecision.
The Commission may extend the scope of the inquiry ifadditionalregulatory issuesemerge.
Anyone with relevant information aboutmatters under investigationis encouraged toshare it with the Commission.Details of how tosendinformationto the Commissionand howthe regulatordealswith complaintscan be found on its website.
It is the Commission's policy, after it has concluded an inquiry, to publish a report detailing the issues examined, any action taken, and the inquiry's outcomes.
